Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream or full-fat milk for lighter texture
  • ¼ cup cold unsalted butter cubed

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Pastry cutter or fork
  • Baking sheet
  • Measuring cup
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine self-rising flour and cold butter in a mixing bowl. Use a pastry cutter or fork to mix until crumbly.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and gently stir until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
  4. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ½-inch thickness. Cut into biscuits using a round cutter.
  5. Arrange biscuits on the baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown on top.
  6. Serve warm, brushed with melted butter or topped with your favorite jam.

Notes

For extra flakiness, keep your butter and cream as cold as possible before mixing. You can also add a touch of honey or sugar for a lightly sweet flavor.
