Ingredients

  • 4 swordfish steaks about 1 inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon zest + wedges
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley or dill optional

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Silicone Brush
  • Instant-Read Thermometer (optional)

Method

  1. Dry the swordfish well: Pat the steaks completely dry; this tiny step gives you that magical golden crust later.
  2. Season with flavor: In a bowl, mix olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Brush the mixture all over the swordfish. Add fresh lemon zest for brightness.
  3. Preheat the air fryer: Set it to 390°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes. Preheating gives the fish a restaurant-style sear.
  4. Cook until golden and juicy: Place the steaks in one layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway.
    1-inch steaks → ~8 minutes
    Thicker steaks → ~10 minutes
  5. Check for perfect doneness: The ideal center temperature is 130–135°F (54–57°C); tender, juicy, never dry.
  6. Rest + finish: Let the swordfish rest for 2 minutes. Squeeze fresh lemon on top and sprinkle chopped herbs for a clean, fresh lift.
  7. Serve with something bright: Enjoy with crisp, refreshing sides like the Watermelon Smoothie Weight Loss Recipe or comforting favorites like the Crispy Potato Bowls.
