Ingredients
  

  • 4 calamari steaks about 6–8 oz each, cleaned and patted dry
  • ½ cup flour for coating
  • 2 large eggs lightly beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko for extra crunch
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter for richer flavor
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley for garnish
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Prepare the coating: In three shallow bowls, place flour in one, beaten eggs in the second, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in the third.
  2. Coat the steaks: Dredge each calamari steak in flour, dip in egg, then coat with seasoned breadcrumbs. Shake off the excess.
  3. Heat the pan: Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When shimmering, carefully add the calamari steaks.
  4. Cook until golden: Sear each side for 2–3 minutes, or until golden brown. Avoid overcooking calamari becomes tough if cooked too long.
  5. Finish and serve: Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the cooked steaks and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
