Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon dried hibiscus petals
  • 1 tablespoon dried lemongrass or 2 fresh stalks chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dried guava leaves or substitute with mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup optional
  • 1 cinnamon stick optional for spice
  • 1 slice fresh ginger optional, for warmth
  • 1 wedge of lime for serving, optional

  • 1 saucepan or tea kettle
  • 1 fine mesh strainer or tea infuser
  • 1 Measuring cup
  • 4 mugs

Method
 

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil.
  2. Add hibiscus petals, lemongrass, and guava leaves to the boiling water. Stir in cinnamon and ginger if using.
  3. Reduce heat and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let steep for another 5 minutes to enhance flavor.
  5. Strain the tea into mugs using a fine mesh strainer.
  6. Sweeten with honey or agave syrup if desired, and garnish with a wedge of lime.
  7. Serve hot or chill in the fridge and serve over ice for a refreshing iced version!
