Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets 6 oz each
  • 2 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds optional, for garnish
  • Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Pan (required): A broiler-safe pan or baking dish.
  • Whisk (required): To mix the miso marinade.
  • Measuring cups and spoons (required): For accurate measurements.

Method

  1. Prepare the marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the miso paste, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic until smooth.
  2. Marinate the salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or a zip-lock bag. Pour the marinade over the salmon and gently massage it into the fillets. Let the salmon marinate for at least 10-15 minutes (or up to 30 minutes for a deeper flavor).
  3. Preheat the broiler: Preheat your oven's broiler on high. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  4. Broil the salmon: Place the marinated salmon fillets skin-side down on the baking sheet. Broil for about 8-10 minutes, or until the salmon is golden brown on top and flakes easily with a fork. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  5. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds over the salmon and garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions, if desired. Serve the salmon with steamed rice and vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more or less honey.
  • If you don’t have white miso, you can use red miso, but it will have a stronger flavor.
  • For a lower-carb option, serve the salmon with cauliflower rice instead of regular rice.
