Boil the Potatoes
- In a medium pot, boil chopped potatoes in salted water for 12–15 minutes or until fork-tender. Drain and set aside.
Cook the Ground Beef
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with chopped onion until no longer pink. Drain excess fat if needed.
Make the Gravy
- Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in beef broth. Add Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.
Mash the Potatoes
- Mash drained potatoes with butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Add more milk if needed and season to taste.
Serve
- Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates, top with hot beef and gravy. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
- Add sautéed mushrooms or peas to the gravy for a heartier version.
- Use instant mashed potatoes in a pinch, but homemade is best!
- Swap beef for ground turkey or plant-based meat for a twist.
