Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Loaf pan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/8 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Heat Your Oven: Set your oven to 325°F (163°C) and ready your loaf pan with some grease.
  • Prepare Dry Stuff: Grab a big bowl. Toss in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir it up.
  • Ready the Wet Stuff: Find another bowl. Whip together egg, sugar, oil into a smooth mix. Throw in buttermilk, a dash of vanilla.
  • Merge with Bananas: Let the mashed bananas join the wet stuff, then carefully fold in the dry stuff you mixed earlier.
  • Time for Walnuts & Chocolate Chips: Carefully mix in walnuts and chocolate chips.
  • It's Baking Time: Empty your mix into the greased loaf pan. Let it bake. It needs 60-70 minutes. Or stick a toothpick in – it's done when the toothpick comes out clean.
  • Time to Cool: Let your lovely loaf chill in the pan for 10 minutes. Then pop it onto a cooling rack.

Notes

  • Toss chocolate chips in a little flour to prevent them from sinking to the bottom.
  • Use dark chocolate for a richer taste.
