Ingredients
  

  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese or cheddar for a stronger flavor
  • 1 tsp almond flour optional, for structure
  • ¼ tsp baking powder optional, for fluffiness
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • Optional toppings: avocado bacon, herbs, or sugar-free syrup (for sweet chaffles)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your mini waffle maker for at least 3 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg until smooth.
  3. Add shredded cheese, almond flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Lightly grease the waffle maker (if needed).
  5. Pour half the batter into the center and close the lid. Cook for 3–4 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  7. Let the chaffles rest for 2 minutes to crisp up before serving.
  8. Enjoy plain, use as a bread replacement, or top with your favorite keto-friendly toppings.

Notes

  • For crispy chaffles, let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
  • For sweeter chaffles, add a dash of vanilla extract and cinnamon.
