Ingredients
  

  • Pizza Dough store-bought or homemade
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Pizza Sauce:
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Toppings:
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup pepperoni slices
  • ½ cup mushrooms sliced
  • ½ green bell pepper sliced
  • ¼ red onion sliced
  • Fresh basil for garnish optional
  • Extra olive oil for drizzling

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet or pizza stone
  • Pizza peel (if using a stone)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife for slicing toppings

Method
 

  1. Step 1 (Make the Dough):
  2. Add the warm water, yeast and sugar in a bowl. Allow to rest for around 5 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
  3. In a big bowl, put in the flour and salt. Stir in the yeast mixture and olive oil until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and kneed for 5–7 minutes, until smooth.
  5. Add the dough to a bowl greased with olive oil, cover it in plastic wrap or damp towel and let rise for about 1 hour when they double.
  6. Step 2 (Prepare the Sauce):
  7. Combine tomato sauce, olive oil, oregano,(1/2 tsp) garlic powder,( 1/4 tsp) salt and pepper in a small bowl. Set aside.
  8. Step 3 (Preheat the Oven):
  9. Leave it to preheat and clean your oven at this temperature 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, preheated in the oven.
  10. Step 4 (Assemble the Pizza):
  11. Work your pizza dough on a floured board to fit the thickness you like.
  12. Place the shaped dough onto a tray or pizza peel (if using a baking/stone).
  13. Spread a light layer of the pizza sauce onto it.
  14. Place the mozzarella cheese evenly over sauce, and then add on your choice of Pepperoni, Mushrooms,Bell pepper ad Onion.
  15. Top with a drizzle of olive oil.
  16. Step 5 (Bake):
  17. Place in oven and bake the pizza for 12–15 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly around your edges.
  18. Step 6 (Garnish & Serve):
  19. Take the pizza out, sprinkle fresh basil if using and let it sit on low heat 5 minutes before cutting in.
  20. Cut and serve your homemade Maria's Pizza!
