Method
- Add the almond milk to the blender first. This helps the blades move more easily and creates a smoother shake.
- Add the Greek yogurt, vanilla protein powder, banana, chia seeds, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and ice cubes to the blender.
- Blend on medium speed for about 15 seconds, then on high speed for 20 to 30 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
- Check the consistency. If the shake is too thick, add a small splash of almond milk and blend again. If it is too thin, add a few extra ice cubes and blend briefly.
- Taste the shake. If you want it a little sweeter, add the optional honey or maple syrup and blend again for a few seconds.
- Pour the protein shake into a tall glass. Garnish with banana slices or a pinch of cinnamon if desired.
- Serve immediately while cold and creamy.
Notes
Use a frozen banana for a thicker, creamier shake with a milkshake-like texture.
Add the liquid to the blender first to help everything blend more smoothly.
Plain Greek yogurt adds creaminess and extra protein without unnecessary added sugar.
Unsweetened almond milk keeps the shake lighter, but you can also use skim milk, soy milk, or another milk of your choice.
Chia seeds add fiber and help make the shake more filling.
If you want a sweeter shake, use a very ripe banana before adding honey or syrup.
For a colder and thicker shake, add extra ice or use frozen banana slices.
For a berry variation, add 1/2 cup frozen strawberries or mixed berries and reduce the ice slightly.
For a chocolate variation, replace the vanilla protein powder with chocolate protein powder and add 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder.
This protein shake can work well for breakfast, but make sure it fits your total daily calorie and nutrition needs.
Protein shakes do not automatically cause weight loss. Their benefit depends on the ingredients used and how they fit into your overall diet and lifestyle.
Drink immediately after blending for the best texture and flavor.
