Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
Add pumpkin purée, broth, herbs, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 10 minutes to blend flavors.
Blend with an immersion blender until silky smooth. Stir in the cream and adjust seasoning.
