Prepare the Brownie Base:
- Grease the bottom of an 8-inch (20 c m) round cake pan with oil or butter. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
- In a big bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Add cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Using a spatula, fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until mixed.
Bake the Brownies:
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center is clean.
Add the Topping:
- Take the brownies out of the oven and sprinkle marshmallows, chopped nuts, and chocolate chips evenly on top of the brownies while they are hot.
- Put the pan back into the oven for another 5-7 minutes until the marshmallows are puffy and brown.
Cool and Slice:
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper.
- Slice into squares or rectangles for serving.
Notes
Substitute pecans or almonds if you prefer a different nutty flavor.For extra indulgence, drizzle caramel or chocolate sauce over the brownies before serving.
