Ingredients

  • 2 cups orange juice fresh or bottled
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1 apple sliced into rings
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 8-10 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise optional, for depth
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg freshly grated if possible
  • 1-2 tbsp honey or maple syrup optional, for sweetness

Method
 

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large pot or slow cooker, add apple cider, orange juice, lemon slices, apple slices, and spices.
  2. Simmer Slowly: Heat over low-medium heat until steaming (do not boil), about 30-40 minutes. Stir occasionally to help spices infuse.
  3. Adjust Sweetness: Taste and add honey or maple syrup if a sweeter flavor is desired.
  4. Strain (Optional): Remove the cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise before serving for a smoother drink.
  5. Serve Warm: Ladle into mugs and garnish with apple slices or a cinnamon stick for presentation.
