Ingredients

  • cups almond milk Unsweetened preferred for light flavor
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup Adjust sweetness to taste
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract Optional but adds warmth
  • ¼ cup chopped fruit Mango berries, or banana for garnish
  • 1 tbsp crushed nuts Almonds or pistachios for crunch optional

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl To soak basil seeds
  • 1 Whisk or spoon for stirring
  • 2 Glass jars or bowls For serving
  • 1 Measuring cup To ensure the perfect balance of liquid and seeds

Method

  1. Soak the Basil Seeds: In a bowl, combine basil seeds with ½ cup of water. Stir well and let them soak for about 10–15 minutes until they puff up and form a jelly-like texture.
  2. Mix the Base: In another bowl, whisk almond milk, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract until smooth and slightly frothy.
  3. Combine: Once the basil seeds have expanded, gently fold them into the almond milk mixture. Stir well to combine evenly.
  4. Chill and Set: Pour the mixture into glass jars or serving bowls. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend and the texture to thicken slightly.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Top with chopped fruits and crushed nuts for added color, flavor, and crunch. Serve chilled and enjoy your refreshing treat.
