Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside; this Air Fryer Arbi Recipe (Taro Root Fry) gives you all the flavor and crunch of traditional fried arbi with almost no oil! It’s perfect as a guilt-free snack, a side with dal-chawal, or even a healthy party bite.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g arbi taro root, boiled & peeled
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp amchur dry mango powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped (for garnish)

Equipment

  • 1 Air Fryer Any 4L or larger capacity
  • 1 Mixing Bowl For coating arbi with spices
  • 1 Spatula To toss and mix evenly

Method
 

  1. Boil and Peel: Wash and boil arbi for about 8–10 minutes until tender but not mushy. Peel and let them cool slightly.
  2. Slice and Season: Cut the arbi into halves or quarters. In a bowl, add olive oil, turmeric, chili, cumin, coriander, amchur, and salt. Mix well to coat evenly.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 180°C (356°F) and preheat for 3 minutes.
  4. Air Fry the Arbi: Spread the seasoned arbi pieces in a single layer in the fryer basket. Air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway for even crispness.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Sprinkle fresh coriander leaves on top. Serve hot with mint chutney, lemon wedges, or curd for a perfect healthy snack.

Notes

  •  For even crispier arbi, soak the peeled arbi in cold water for 10 minutes before seasoning.
  • Reduce oil further for a weight-loss version; the air fryer will still crisp it beautifully.
  •  Great with healthy sides like Healthy Jicama Salad or Chicken with Lemon Balm .
  •  Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days and re-air-fry for 4–5 minutes to restore crunch.
