  • 1 medium pot (for boiling potatoes)
  • 1 Potato masher
  • 1 whisk (for gravy)

Ingredients
  

  • For the Ground Beef & Gravy
  • 1 lb ground beef 85/15 or leaner
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil if beef is very lean
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth low sodium
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 lbs potatoes Yukon Gold or Russet, peeled and chopped
  • ½ cup milk or more for creaminess
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

Boil the Potatoes

  • In a medium pot, boil chopped potatoes in salted water for 12–15 minutes or until fork-tender. Drain and set aside.

Cook the Ground Beef

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with chopped onion until no longer pink. Drain excess fat if needed.

Make the Gravy

  • Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in beef broth. Add Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.

Mash the Potatoes

  • Mash drained potatoes with butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Add more milk if needed and season to taste.

Serve

  • Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates, top with hot beef and gravy. Garnish with parsley if desired.
